How are you?
A few days ago, room 1 & 2 entered a fascinating adventure of Beach Ed. We waddled over from New Brighton Catholic to North Beach and entered the Lifeguard area to learn about Lifeguards and the troubles that they experience day by day. First of all, they gave us a tour through the building, and then told us what we would do in the day. I was most excited for “WATER TIME.” First, we started with what we used for the first aid. Then, we moved over to the area where they show some of the surf boards and the boogie boards. They told us how many people can fit on one board and showed us where our knees went. We had to paddle with our legs, and with our arms, but we didn’t get to enter the water to try it out.
Next, we went to check out a cool IRB, standing for Inflatable Rescue Boat. We got to see what it held, what it was used for, and why Lifeguards would use it. Later in the day, we had Beach Ed’s Got Talent, where we had to dig a giant hole in the sand, then fill it up and make a giant mountain out of sand. Then, we built a really cool sand castle. This was really fun, but it got really crowded, so I just went into my whole new world and built a mini sand castle. Well, until it got stomped on by someone.
After that, we got ready to go into the water. I was super excited, but my wetsuit was really hard to put on. I thought I was going to miss out, but it turns out that I was wrong. We did a safety brief, and then entered the water. The water was cool, but VERY fun. We got to go on boogie boards, and when I caught a wave, I nearly hit them. So I made sure they were okay and continued my trip. We only stayed in the water for about 20 minutes, which was VERY disappointing, but everything has to come to an end. We got changed back into our clothes, then waddled back over to school.
Thank you North Beach for allowing this amazing experience.
