On the 3rd of August 2023, the year 5 and up went to Catholic Cathedral College for a performance about rock music. It was called “School Of Rock.” To arrive there, we went on a bus with a ton of people. It was a loud, humorous, bumpy ride. Once we arrived, we had a little snack then headed inside. People kept poking their heads out and waving at us which was really funny because the show didn’t start yet.
Once the show started, there was a loud sound that sounded like an announcement. Then the show started to begin.During the show, the performers used a lot of naughty language which was super shocking for catholic school. The show was super fun and I hope that CCC performs another performance sometime soon. Here is an image of the show.

On the 1st of August 2023, some players from the Canterbury NPC’s came to NBC. These players that arrived at our school’s names were Billy Harmon, Rameka Poihipi, Sars Flood, and Brook Toomalati. Some of these players played for our school as well (Billy Harmon, and Sars Flood)! I personally really enjoyed the Q&A and taking photos with them. Here is a photo of Canterbury’s mascot, Larry The Lamb.

Yesterday, Mr Gray gave Room 1 a template about some ducks. He told us that we had to caption them to our liking. I took a little inspiration from Mr Gray and made an ULTIMATE Duck Staring Contest. A couple days ago, we started an array. These are the requirements for the game. Two dice and the game board. To play the game, you need to roll both dice. For example, say you get a 5 and a 2. That means that you will need to fill a 5×2 space or a 2×5 space. It is a really fun game and quite quick. This is what it looks like before the game starts

Yesterday, Team Tahi watched an avail. An avail is where you watch a movie and complete tasks throughout the movie with subtitles. The movie was Prince Of Egypt. It was a super fun movie that was supposed to take us around 1 week, but instead took us 2 days. The story is based on the biblical chapter of Exodus. Exodus is a story of which Moses splits 2 seas temporarily to help hebrews travel. This story is very popular so you might know it today. On the 23rd of June, the Year 6s in New Brighton Catholic School went to the James Hay Theatre near the Christchurch Town Hall to perform what is one of the best dances yet. Dancing Like The Stars. It was a super exciting and emotional dance. The host was someone named Adam. We were 3rd to perform. The song we danced to was “What About Us” sung by P!nk.
There were 10 performances. My favourite one was a dance-demo group, they were 2nd to perform.
I enjoyed seeing other people perform and how they persevered and ignored mistakes.
A challenge for me was getting the timing correct with the music.
I could improve by practising more and trying hard.
I hope we can continue doing this dance.

Today, Ray Bishop came to our school. He taught us about our dreams and how he had a dream to become a singer. He asked some people what career they wanted to have then they were older and some responses were Doctor, Pilot, Singer, and more. I personally want to be a Paramedic when I grow up. I think I can be a paramedic because I know a few medical tricks, like how deep you should go for cpr, what a defibrillator is and how to use it, and how to respond quickly. Ray Bishop is a famous singer with a few songs I am going to link to you.
